MOHS SURGERY

Mohs surgery is the best treatment option for the vast majority of skin cancers including basal cell carcinoma (BCC) and squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). For a detailed explanation of how Mohs surgery is performed please click here:  MOHS SURGERY EXPLAINED

RECONSTRUCTIVE SURGERY

The goal of dermatologic reconstructive surgery is to restore function and appearance of the skin before the skin cancer was removed. A defect can be allowed to heal or repaired with reconstructive surgery. Which option is right for you depends on the shape and location of the wound. As a Mohs surgeon, Dr. Chen and his team is exceptionally trained to repair both small and large defects on the face and other parts of the body. At the time of your surgery, Dr. Chen's team will discuss all of your options with you and, if necessary, repair the defect with meticulous care and attention.

EXCISIONAL REMOVAL OF SKIN CANCER

Excisional surgery can be performed to remove skin cancers including melanomas. Using a local anesthesia the skin cancer is removed plus a margin of safety around the growth. Following the procedure, the specimen is examined by a dermatopathologist under a microscope to ensure that the growth has been removed completely. The area is then closed using sutures.

REMOVAL OF MOLES, CYSTS AND OTHER GROWTHS

Smaller tumors on the trunk and extremities can often be removed and repaired immediately in the office. Benign growths such as lipomas and cysts can be treated with an excision. Dr. Chen and his surgical team can evaluate your individual needs and discuss your options with you.
