Robert L. Chen, MD., PhD, FAAD, is a Board-Certified Mohs Surgeon (MDS), Dermatologist & Dermatopathologist.
Robert L. Chen, MD, PhD—Triple Board-Certified in Dermatology, Dermatopathology, and Mohs Surgery—is the Director of Acacia Dermatology. He offers comprehensive medical care, surgical treatments and cosmetic procedures.
A California native, Dr. Chen graduated from UC Santa Barbara, received the UC President's Undergraduate Research Fellowship and served as Graduating Commencement Speaker. He earned his MD and PhD from UC Irvine’s School of Medicine, as a Fellow of the NIH’s Medical Scientist Training Program.
Dr. Chen completed his Internship at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, gaining training in plastic surgery, head & neck surgery, internal medicine, and more. He then completed his Dermatology Residency at UC San Diego and Vanderbilt University, specializing in medical, pediatric, cosmetic dermatology, and Mohs surgery.
He further trained in Dermatopathology at the University of Chicago and served as an Instructor in Medicine. Now, as Medical Director at Acacia Dermatology, Dr. Chen also provides Dermatopathology consultation services for Nashville area dermatologists.
In addition to his clinical duties, Dr. Chen also serves as Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at Belmont University's Frist College of Medicine. Dr. Chen enjoys mentoring medical students and advancing medical education in Middle Tennessee.
Dr. Robert Chen is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology. He is highly skilled in diagnosing and treating complex conditions of skin, hair and nail.
